Funny enough, one can distinguish the Dell employees by the extremely goofy looks on their faces
From left to right- Aimee, Robin, Dave, myself, Wanda, and Joy
In terms of the principal of threes, this was an extremely well balanced group:
three girls, three guys. Three Dell,
three Microsoft. Three Asians, three non-Asains. Three poeple in black shirts, three not...
Dinner at John Dominis- seafood place with a great view of Waikiki Beach.
Tuesday
Big Wave Dave hits the surf!
Well, anyone that has seen me swim knows how bad I am- a portfolio of the doggy paddle and dead man's float.
When I was younger I could argue that my muscle to fat ratio put me at a natural disadvantage in staying on top of the
water, but unfortunately that excuse has since slipped away. Despite this, I did get licensed to SCUBA and sail- adjust,
adapt, and overcome.
So much like snowboarding Whistler with a helmet on or attending La Tomatina with a cup on (never know when a flying tomato
may hit you in the nuts),
I am somewhat aware of my mortality at this stage and was insistent
that I should go surfing with a lifejacket on. Bad to die on vacation, or at least bad to die while doing a personal activity
on a business trip- after much analysis the best way is probably an instantaneous explosion on a business flight, therefor
maximizing the insurance to anyone left behind and reducing any anticipation.
Anyway, I went ahead without one, and it wasn't an issue, which is probably
why I picked Waikiki as the one place I could go surfing in the first place.
Got up every time, BTW.
Having a Mai Tai at the
Royal Hawaiian Hotel, where they were invented (according to the Travel Channel show I saw)
Trivia question to those that know me- what person in this picture eats hot dogs, has a MBA,
likes small chinese dogs, would spend money
on football season tickets to their undergrad alma mater (if they lived close enough), isn't afraid to laugh out loud,
and thinks large screen televisions are money well spent...
Wednesday
The Microsoft rental car
I thought this was really indicative of how rampant car break-ins are supposed to be
in Hawaii. American companies usually aren't that direct about touchy subjects though- more reminiscent of Europe, like
"Smoking kills."
Nuuanu Pali Lookout
Here we are, eating
ox tail soup and fried rice at a bowling alley- the
Kam Bowl
Dinner at the Side Street Cafe.
Went to catch up with Kristen, my Norwegian friend from visit #1, at her new apartment.
